New Running Music from New Beck Album and More Posted on JogTunes

Apple iTunes The tunes from Beck's new album, Modern Guilt, make up a nice little playlist, with 2 tunes in the 120 BPM range for warm-up and cool-down and 5 runnables that peak at 176. You can download them as individual tunes from our Beck list and add them to your workout playlists.

From iTunes' latest releases, we found Nas' "Make the World Go Round" running at a fast 180, 2 tunes by The Cure in the 140s, and "Pushin' Me Away" by the Jonas Brothers at 162 BPM. Check our home page tunes list for details.

Peter Andersson has again provided JogTunes with a great list of his new favorite running tunes. Here are two songs with quotes from his email. We posted both on our home page's new tunes list. Here's Peter's website for more great tunes.
  • Tanita Tikaram - Good tradition (Pop) - 154 - British pop from the late 80s or early 90s.
  • Lostprophets - Last summer (Pop) - 151 - My favourite song by them so far
Jim Webster's new site, podwogging.com, is a great source of tunes for working out exactly to the beat. From his list we posted Private Idaho (Live at the Roxy) by the B-52's. It rocks at 168. They're both on the jogtunes.com home page.

I hope you enjoy the latest additions to JogTunes.

Best of running,

Coldplay on JogTunes, New Home Page, and More

Apple iTunes Coldplay's new album's got a bunch of tunes for walking, jogging, running, and other workouts. There's the title tune, "Viva la Vida" at 140 BPM, and "Violet Hill"" at 152. See all the posted songs on our Tunes List. Click here for all of our Coldplay tunes.

I just redesigned our home page to make it easier for return visitors to get right into the action of downloading tunes for their playlists. New visitors can get info on working out to the beat by going to our new visitor page and then go from there to the tunes pages.

I got an email from Jim Webster of podwogging.com. He's got an awesome site for walking and jogging (and running) exactly to the tempos of his favorite music. His ideas on music paced workouts are refreshing and fun. He invites others to send him their lists of favorite running tunes. His blog is great too. Check it all out!

Meanwhile, enjoy the music.

Hypnostep, on the Runner's World forum thread "The Best Running Music EVER", posted a great list of dance and electronic music with BPMs. I listed tunes from the list by Juno Reactor, the Benassi Bros., and the Propellerheads. The BPMs vary from the 120s (great for fast walking to the 140s for easy jogging.

Girlwithcurl, favoring faster paces, posted a great rock/pop/alternative list on the same thread. The tunes, artists, and BPMs include:
  • Requiem for a Dying Song--Flogging Molly 172
  • She's Tight--Cheap Trick 157

The latest on iTunes provides 2 tunes for my list.
"West of the Fields (Live)" by R.E.M. in the album Live: From London works out at 164 BPM.
"Everyone Nose (All the Girls Standing In the Line for the Bathroom)" by N.E.R.D. from Seeing Sounds is an easy going 141.

Peter Andersson is our veteran contributor. His picks for this week include tunes by Nickelback, The B-52's, and Skew Siskin. You've got to read his comments on Skew Siskin's tune, "Shake Me." It can be found on his website in his top 50 list (it's #24).

My latest JogTunes Indie Podcast episode is up for running and other fitness modes. It's #22 and entitled "Rockin' in the 150s." Check it out on our Podcast Page. You can subscribe to my podcast on iTunes and many other podcast players. I would greatly appreciate your impressions of this episode. For a change of pace, all the tunes are rock with BPMs between 150 and 159. Please send your comments to comments at jogtunes.com.

Many thanks to listeners who've purchased the talk-free Special Edition tracks from my website store. Please consider supporting the show by purchasing this offer (just $5.00).
