JogTunes posts new runnable songs and a podcast episode

At jogtunes.com we posted new songs from a great article about running to music. It was published on line in Runner's World. Here's the article link. Almost all of the songs on the first page of the article are runnable. I haven't yet checked the BPMs of the songs on page 2. Thanks, Runner's World, for this great playlist. You can find our list of the songs on our home page. They're songs 2 through 11 in the preview list in the middle column.

JogTunes presents BikeToTheBeat.com and welcomes aquarunners

We just launched the beta version of BikeToTheBeat.com. Here's what Dr. Bob, our founder, has to say about our new site:

"Like running to the beat of my songs, I found that pedaling to the beat is also fun and motivating. I'm a big jazz fan so I started with some jazz tunes and then decided to use our entire signed artist, running music database as a resource for biking songs.

"I'm totally aware of the risk of wearing a headset and playing music while riding a bike in heavy traffic and even on country roads. That's why the new site addresses stationary cycling, kinetic training, and biking on rollers.

"The prepared playlists that we posted and will add in the future are sequenced for warm-up, full speed, and cool-down segments. The difference between the playlists for running and biking is the BPM range that are used for warming up and cooling down. I'm encouraging the playing of songs in the 90 to 100 BPM range to start and end the workout. This forces cyclists to set the gears (or resistance) higher and encourages more muscle toning. I expect visitors to the site will make there own varied playlists depending on their workout preferences. The possibilities are obviously limitless.

"Spinners will be looking for songs in with tempos equal to 180 to 200 pedal strokes (90 to 100 revolutions) per minute (equal to 180-200 BPMs). We have some songs on the site in the 180 to 190 range and will be adding up to 210 in the future."

We also would like to welcome aquarunners to jogtunes.com. We understand that they enjoy songs in the upper range of BPMs as well. So the addition of tunes in the 190-200 BPM range will address their needs as well.

JogTunes.com posts new runnable songs from Live Earth, Yellowcard, and Ozzy

At jogtunes.com we posted new songs from the new album by Yellowcard called Paper Walls. This album is the quintessential running music album. Most of the songs are in the walking and running BPM ranges including most of the acoustic tracks. See our home page for details.

The Live Earth concerts were awesome. We found a great list of songs from the New York concert on iTunes and posted seven runnable tunes, most of which are on the list. The others are by artists who played at the concert. Here's the artist rundown: Alicia Keyes, Kanye West, Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Etheridge, Ludacris, John Mayer, and the Dave Matthews Band.

New Running Music and a Podcast Episode From JogTunes

At jogtunes.com we continue to consult the Runner's World Discussion thread, Best Running List EVER, for great running music. Here's the link for the latest entries. As usual, consistent with our mission to find music with BPMs in the walking, jogging and running range, we posted songs by artists recently listed by the forum's members. Shera2316 sent the thread a great list. Here's a breakdown of what we found on her list and some songs we added:

Timbaland - The Way I Are (BPM 115 - a nice walking pace) and we added Oh Timbaland at 146 for an easy run)
Rise Against - Prayer (151 - a nice run)
Paula DeAnda - Easy (122 - a quick walk - good for warming up) and we added Walk Away (157)
My Chemical Romance - Famous Last Words (at 122) and we had already posted I'm Not Okay (I Promise) (at 181 - a flat out run)
Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr Th Mmrs (153)
Papa Roach - Forever (108 - an easy walk - good for cooling down) and we added Scars for a flat out run at 181)
+44 - When Your Heart Stops Beating was on her list and ours (at 171 - a perfect run tempo)
Breaking Benjamin - The Diary of Jane (another perfect run at 168)
Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become (125) and we added Pain (160)
30 Seconds to Mars - Attack (another great run at 174)
DJ 4Motion - We Are Back (a good light jog at 145)

Rabbit76 mentioned how much he likes Flyleaf and rik_117 agreed and specifically mentioned Cassie by Flyleaf. Coincidentally we just posted Cassie (169) and All Around Me (148).

Also, by chance, my son suggested songs by The Strokes and we posted Reptilia (159). Then we found it on rik_117's list.

Peter's Pick for this week is Coming Undone by Korn. It's new on his list at number 53. Please go to Peter's great website for a fine review of this tune.
